Tuesday is here and its time for Tuesdays at the table. Pop over to Andrea's blog and sign up and join in the fun!
Today's recipe that I want to share with you is...........
Tomato Bredie
You will need......
600-800g lamb shanks cut into 2 inch lengths (I used lamb chops)
1 1/2 cups boiling water.
1 tbsp veg stock powder.2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped.
1 red chili, de-seeded and finely chopped (if you like hot, like me leave the seeds in)
2 medium onions, chopped.
2 cans chopped tomatoes.
3 potatoes peeled and cubed, 1inch squares.
2 tsp sugar.
2 tsp garlic and herb seasoning.
1 tbsp fresh grated lemon zest.
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice.
Cherry tomato garnish
200g cherry tomatoes.
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves.
2 tbsp olive oil.
Simmer lamb very slowly on top of stove with the water, stock powder, onions, garlic, chili, and tinned tomatoes for about 1 1/2 hours.
Add potatoes, sugar and garlic and herd seasoning. Simmer for a final 45 mins.
Taste for seasoning and adjust if needed. Add lemon zest and juice.
Flash fry cherry tomatoes in olive oil, sprinkle with thyme. Some will pop, that is fine.
Tumble cherry tomatoes on top of Bredie when ready to serve.
Serve with Polenta, rice or crusty bread.
Serves 4.

Have a great week!
Sounds good!
Stopping by from SITS to say hello :)
This looks really good and seems pretty easy. Would it work to cook the lamb in a crock pot?
i've actually never had lamb. what does it taste like?
